Those who call themselves "Geriatric Care Managers" come with varying backgrounds. There are those who come with professional degrees in helpful fields, such as nursing, social work, gerontology, etc. There are those who are aware of various services for the elderly and can help you decide what to do. There are those who just like to be helpful with daily tasks or paperwork.

Georgia has no state licensing requirements for Geriatric Care Managers. There are some national organizations where a person can obtain "certification" by providing various credentials, and there are organizations that only require a membership fee.
When there is one governing standard, the Senior Resources Directorywill add a category for this service. As with all services, make sure to do extensive research on any individual you choose. There are many very capable and helpful care managers with varying backgrounds.
